Since the last update, we’ve been busy preparing the house for adaptations and clearing up both the interior and exterior of the property. Along the way, we’ve discovered some interesting features and the true charm of the property is slowly coming into the spotlight. There’s still a lot of work left to do, but the garden has made significant progress, transforming from an overgrown jungle into a much cleaner and tidier space.
Before the garden was cleared, you could hardly see the shed and greenhouse, as they were completely covered by a massive bush. It was difficult for me to navigate the garden initially, as the branches and obstacles made it hard to get around in my wheelchair. Tidying up the property was essential for me to fully enjoy the garden and to prevent any issues with my drainage as autumn approached.
Although we’ve cleared many bushes, there are still plenty of plants left to remove and detailing to clean the garden up. The shed needs to be taken down as it’s starting to topple over, but this will open up the space for a seating area, making the garden more functional.
Considering this property took several months to acquire due to ongoing issues, this is a step in the right direction. I’m quite pleased with how the property has turned out so far, and I’m excited to make use of this space. There will be plenty of fruit and vegetables being grown here, that’s for sure!
Nearby the greenhouse and derelict shed, there are plenty of ponds with some beautiful plants in there. These ponds add to the charm of this property and hearing there are usually frogs, makes it even more exciting!
The image below really highlights just how much trimming and clearing was necessary to reopen the garden. It also reminded me of the commitment I’ve made to myself to ensure the garden remains well-kept and doesn’t turn into another jungle!
Overall, the garden looks much better thanks to my family helping out with cutting back and tidying. They’ve even made several trips to the tip, hauling away numerous bags of twigs, leaves, and branches, which has cleared up space for more work to begin. The driveway is now visible, which means we can start using it for skips and allow contractors to park safely while they carry out essential renovations!
