Update 4
I’m back again with a fourth house hunting update for you all! These posts aim to talk about the houses I’ve viewed and provide observations on how accessible they are for my needs. These posts aim to highlight the issues with accessible housing and my journey as a disabled first-time buyer. Will I find my perfect accessible home? Read on to find out!
The House
The fourth house I’ve looked into is located in a nice residential area, surrounded by many houses and with a large hill surrounding the houses. It looks like a great and lively neighbourhood with plenty of things to do, including a retail park containing some convenience stores and food venues. I would say that this house is situated in an area that checks off all my modern lifestyle needs.
The house itself is a comfy ground floor house/maisonette, with spacious areas and a pretty sizeable bathroom – something I need for my perfect accessible wetroom. As for price, this house is pretty affordable for any first-time buyer, especially with how big it looked online, though the photos could just be exaggerating the size.
No Measurements…
Unfortunately for many houses, there is often a lack of measurements available, especially for some rooms. As explained previously, we need to improve and provide as much information on the house as possible for accessibility reasons. This ensures that even if the house can’t be viewed, potential buyers can view and judge the property in other ways. It also helps potential disabled buyers easily see if the property is good enough for their accessibility needs.
Added Frustration…
Despite measurements not being available right now, I’m hoping they will be able to soon. I haven’t given up on this house yet but often houses get sold quite quickly, so I may never know if this property is suitable or not. This has added to the house hunting fatigue I’ve discussed previously – I feel quite defeated when essential information is unavailable on the property. That said, I will keep you updated with further house hunting updates here on this blog!
