Introduction
Hi everyone and welcome to buildmyaccessiblehome.com. This website was set up by myself in hopes to get more accessible homes built across the United Kingdom (UK). The aim of this website is to raise awareness of the issues faced by disabled people across the UK when hunting for homes on the private market.
As you may not know, housing isn’t always that accessible or disability-friendly so a lot of disabled people have to make do with inaccessible features, which makes life so much more difficult.
Hopefully, this website can make an impact on the wider disability community and enable more of us, despite the ability to have a comfortable home.
We still have a long way to go to ensure more accessible homes can be built across the UK. This is only the starting point to highlighting the issues around the lack of accessibility in the housing market.
What Can I Expect?
So what can you expect from this website? Well, this website is fairly new so I’m currently brainstorming new ideas but to give you all an idea of what’s to come, I will be creating content such as:
- Updates and news similar to this post.
- Discussions on accessible housing.
- Guides and information on how you can ask about accessible housing in your area.
- What an accessible home should look like to suit basic accessibility needs.
- Stories on inaccessible/accessible housing successes/failures from myself and other people.
- Ways to get involved with the website.
Goodbye (for now)!
I look forward to sharing all the content I have in the works with you all and look forward to hearing all of your views. In the meantime, don’t be afraid to reach out to me with any questions, suggestions or other comments at: info@buildmyaccessiblehome.co.uk.
Please also consider donating to the blog via the BuyMeACoffee button at the bottom of this post. Donations, no matter how big or small highly appreciated and help me continue writing on this blog, plus go towards purchasing an accessible property!
