A Quick Find Close to Home
Shortly after seeing the property in the previous property hunt update, I found another property conveniently situated near my current home location. However, something was different this time around with the property I was seeing, something I had been searching for a while…
The Viewing
Before I proceed, I want to make you all aware that this property was viewed by someone else on my behalf. The majority of this post is based on the images from the property on Rightmove, including what I could see when I visited the property (mostly the doorway). While I try and remain truthful about what I saw, a lot of these points are based on what I’ve been told by the people viewing the property for me.

Wide Drive and Property
One of the immediate positives for this property was the drive space available. The convenience of easy parking already made this a great property since I need space to get in and out of my adapted vehicle.
On entering the house, I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious rooms and hallway, a rarity in some of the bungalows I’ve seen before. The sense of openness and roominess was a breath of fresh air and made this property feel like the one I could turn into my own.
Spacious Garden
One of the highlights of this property was the expansive garden, complete with a greenhouse and shed. The generous outdoor space would have provided an inviting setting for family and friends to gather, especially during the summer months. It felt like a perfect extension of the living space, offering plenty of space for my friends and family if they visited.
Decent Sized Bathroom
While the bathroom had a very well-maintained suite that had stood for several years (from looking at the previous selling information on Zoopla), my accessibility requirements would require me to replace the bathroom with a wet room. What made this bathroom different from the other properties I’ve seen, was the size of the room which gave it lots of potential to be turned into a pretty substantial bathroom.
Not So Perfect
Some minor issues with doorways also caught my attention. However, I believe these are manageable challenges that I can address if I decide to make this property my own, especially with the support and grants available which look to solve these types of issues anyway.
While these minor challenges wouldn’t be an issue, I do think this highlights that no matter what, an accessible property will still come with something you will need to compromise. As unfortunate as it sounds, I think that’s just what life is like – a bunch of compromises and things to overcome to get to where you want to be.
Rejection Stings
I recently made an offer on the property, which unfortunately was rejected. However, I am staying firm with my choice, recognizing the importance of staying within my budget, especially in light of the current mortgage rates. It’s not worth paying more than I can afford, and I believe the right property at the right price will come along at some point, even if this isn’t meant to be.
The property’s initial rejection did sting but it hasn’t deterred me from continuing my search either, and I remain hopeful that a mutually beneficial agreement could be reached if they ever change their minds.
Conclusion – There Is Still Hope!
In conclusion, this property stands out as a gem, meeting most of my needs and desires. I’m hopeful that similar opportunities will arise soon, ideally with even better and more affordable price points as the property market evolves.
There is still hope that the right property will show up soon but for that to happen I need to continue looking, saving and writing about my experiences of my journey. This property may have led to rejection but this feels like the starting point for bigger and better options, especially with it becoming a buyer’s market now. Therefore, I’m hopeful it will turn up soon – maybe my next property hunt update will be the one that will bring me optimism.
