Update 3
My latest house hunting update has arrived, with another great house to talk about. It has been a couple of weeks since my last viewing, so I felt it would be great to share my progress in finding a suitable home for my accessible needs. Is there disappointment hidden in this update? Well, you will need to read on to find out!
The House
The house on sale is located on a busy road, next to a bus stop and convenience store just across from it. Leading up to the property is a large drive with space for a few vehicles with steps leading up to the front door.
With it being close to bus stops and other features, this is a perfect home for somebody who wants ease of access to essential services. I personally like where it is, especially as it means I can hop on a bus whenever as long as the accessible spot isn’t taken. Speaking of bus accessibility, I wrote about disability access for disability pride month (July) over on my other blog.
The Viewing
Yes, I know the house had steps but this would be adapted into a ramp suitable for powerchair users. As you know, houses can be adapted to suit your needs, though this can make houses more expensive for disabled people.
Next Update We Go!
Unfortunately, this home is another example of a home with a lack of disability access. There seems to be a theme going on here as so far I’ve come across 0% accessible houses for sale that suits my needs. It really does say something about how inaccessible the housing market is when it comes to accessibility. I really hope that the new government disability strategy will be able to address this issue, once they start taking on the pledge.
